In this episode of Retroschaft we get up close and personal with an Alfa Romeo 156 that participated in the 24 Hours of Spa in 1998 with no other than Derek Bell behind the wheel.

In the winter of 2020 - 2021 I painstakingly restored the suspension of my '69 MGB GT over 6 months time. I started filming the whole process at about the moment when everything could be put back together. Countless parts were sanded, repainted, upgraded, replaced, etc. In the end, the suspension was as good as it was when the car rolled out of the factory and it was one of the most satisfying things I had ever done. I would be lying if I said it wasn't a dream to spend the day in the Alps with this beautiful sportscar. Luckily, however, this is only day two of our five day roadtrip which means there's plenty more to come!

A full black leather interior has no place in a race car. In this video, we set out to remove it from the car in an effort to save weight and make someone else happy with this stunning interior. Boy was this a job! BMWs are put together well, and we now paid the price.

To make the E36 a looker from the get go, we decided to paint the valve cover in a blue which resembles the BMW M-Blue as closely as possible. This was jointly decided by our viewers in a poll on the Retroschaft YouTube Community Page. The result absolutely blew us away and truly finished the engine bay after its satisfying deep clean.

Every build has to start somewhere, and for us, that meant getting the car as clean as we possibly could before we start modifying things. We have always been told that a clean engine bay keeps both the car and engine healthy and fresh. Besides the added benefit of enjoying the hell out of a beautiful engine compartment, we also got the satisfaction of watching the car transform completely during the cleaning process.

In 1994, BMW won the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps with the mighty E36 318is. It set the tone for what would become a dominant decade for BMW at the Spa 24 Hours, winning 5 out of the 10 races in the 1990s. A BMW E36 grabbed its first victory in 1994 and low and behold, it was a 318is who took home the trophy. The M42 BMW put in their 318is road cars formed the basis for the S42 Race Engine inspiring us to start our build with a 318is.

Right after the summer of 2022, our good friend Antoine bought an ex-flooded Porsche 924. The car was fully rally prepped and seemed to be in a great overall shape, and after seeing it in this sorry state, it was difficult not to buy it and start a 924 Outlaw project. In this video we take a look at Antoine's astonishingly detailed plans with his 924 while walking around the car.

For as long as we can remember, we have been obsessing over the idea of one day building a real race car. Gutting the interior, installing bucket seats with harness seatbelts, stiffening the suspension, power-tuning an engine, you name it. In 2022, we finally set out to make this obsession a reality and bought a beautiful 1994 BMW E36 318IS, In this first episode of this new series, we pick up the car from the previous owner and drive it all the way home!
